Jennifer earned her master’s degree in Speech and Hearing Sciences at the University of Washington in 1996. She practiced in public schools and then in a private pediatric clinic for 12 years before starting Benoliel Speech and Language, PLLC in 2008. She specializes in the assessment and communication skills development of preschool and school age autistic children and childhood apraxia of speech. She has a focused interest in working with pre-verbal and minimally speaking children and is skilled at addressing the sensory processing needs of children to assist with physical and emotional regulation. She encourages participation from parents and caregivers to provide them with the tools to support their child’s continued growth. Jennifer believes that therapy must be both meaningful and enjoyable in order for children to learn. She utilizes each child’s individual interests to develop natural and intentional communication which is intrinsically rewarding to the child. She values each child’s unique strengths and individuality and encourages development of these talents. Jennifer promotes child initiated, functional, meaningful, unprompted communication. She believes there are many ways to communicate, and the ultimate goal is to find the most functional and natural methods for each individual child. Jennifer is trained in Gestalt Language Processing and is a member of the Natural Language Acquisition Clinician Registry.

Jill received her undergraduate degree from Tufts University in 1993, majoring in Early Childhood Education with a focus on language and literacy development. She taught preschool in Houston, Boston, and Seattle. In 2000, she earned her master’s degree in Speech and Hearing Sciences from the University of Washington. Jill worked in a private clinic for three years followed by five years as a research assistant at the UW. She studied social communication of infants with severe communication delays and school aged children with Fetal Alcohol Syndrome. Jill joined Benoliel Speech and Language in 2010. In addition to her years of experience treating children with receptive-expressive language, articulation, and social communication delays, disorders, and differences, Jill specializes in communication skills development of autistic children and children with childhood apraxia of speech. She is trained in Gestalt Language Processing and is a member of the Natural Language Acquisition Clinician Registry. She has a particular interest in the birth to three population and enjoys supporting and educating parents in their child’s overall development. Jill values neurodiversity. She utilizes a variety of strategies to encourage communication and support the development of each individual child.

She is highly skilled at identifying and addressing the needs of children with executive function disorder and the problems associated with deficits in these areas including: problem solving, processing, reasoning, decision making, social interactions, language organization, and communication difficulties. Dina’s talents also include the assessment and communication skills development of non-verbal and minimally verbal children and teens. She uses a variety of augmentative and alternative communication systems to support functional communication. Dina believes that children need functional life skills and the communication to support the development of these skills. She is always looking toward a child’s future and strives to ensure each child is prepared for the next developmental level. Whether helping young children with clear verbal expression of their experiences and ideas or teaching teens and young adults to follow directions needed for vocational training, she prioritizes the child. She includes parents and caregivers in the therapy program and provides them with the knowledge needed to help generalize new skills to other environments. Hagen earned her master’s degree in Occupational Therapy at Brenau University in Gainesville, Georgia in 2010 and began working with children in outpatient clinics shortly after. She continued to further her education to provide evidence based practice through the Beckman Oral Motor course, SOS feeding course, Vision Development and Therapeutic Approaches course, and How Does Your Engine Run? regulation course, to list a few. She practices her conversational Spanish skills at her adult education class as well as speaking with her husband at home. Hagen specializes in the assessment and skill development of children and teens with fine motor, handwriting, sensory processing, oral-motor, visual processing, and feeding difficulties. She uses a play-based and child-led therapy approach to encourage the development of each child’s skills. She is skilled at engaging children and earning trust, providing them comfort and confidence that she will ensure their success. Her primary goals in therapy are to promote improved self-confidence, independence, and play for all children.

Julie provides diagnosis of and therapy for a variety of speech and language disorders in children, adolescents, and young adults. Her clinical interests lie in autism spectrum disorder, Social Communication Disorder, and children/adolescents with executive functioning, school-age receptive/expressive language, fluency, and articulation disorders. Julie believes in a therapy approach that focuses on teaching communication skills that are relevant to the child's/adolescent's everyday needs while supporting individuality. Intervention activities target skills that will improve functional communication so that the child/adolescent can more independently and effectively communicate his/her wants, needs, feelings, thoughts, ideas, and opinions at school, with his/her family, in the community, and during vocational opportunities.
